Established in 1950, it remains one of China's foremost institutions specialising in petroleum, chemistry, and engineering. Overview

This institution was founded in 1950, originally under the name Fushun Petroleum College. It was the first university dedicated to petroleum in the People’s Republic of China. It adopted its current name, Liaoning Shihua University, in 2006. The university currently consists of 14 faculties offering undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate degrees in Petroleum, Chemical, Environmental and Safety Engineering and other inter-disciplinary subjects. The campus has an educational area of 900,000 square meters with various facilities to support practical teaching and innovative research. The university is striving to produce high quality graduates with comprehensive professional education and ethical standards, who are able to compete in the international job market. Liaoning Shihua University is not only recognised domestically but also has forged partnerships with international higher institutions.
