Established in 1997, the American University of Sharjah (AUS) is a not-for-profit, independent, institution of higher education located in the United Arab Emirates. It was founded by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council of the UAE and Ruler of Sharjah.

Overview

The American University of Sharjah (AUS) was founded in 1997 and since then it has grown to become one of the region's leading educational institutions. Offering twenty-six majors and forty-four minors at the undergraduate level, along with fourteen master's degrees programs, AUS attracts students from more than 90 nationalities making it a truly international institution. It has a dedicated faculty of around 400 full-time teachers, helping to maintain its student-faculty ratio of 12:1. AUS is licensed in the United States by the Department of Education of the State of Delaware and is accredited in the United States by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The university is also accredited by the Ministry of Education of the UAE and the majority of its individual programs are accredited by international bodies including ABET, AACSB and CAC.
