The university was found in 1928 and was one of the earliest normal universities founded in China. It consists of 16 faculties providing 56 undergraduate programs and several master and doctoral programs ranging from liberal arts and sciences to business studies. It also offers education to almost 30,000 students. The university occupies an area of about 135 hectares, with buildings of different styles and lush green trees all around, providing a great environment for teachers and students to work and live.
