Founded in 1925, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUT), is the largest university in Greece, and one of the most renowned in Southeastern Europe. Located in the historical city of Thessaloniki, the university is named after the philosopher Aristotle, who was born in northern Greece. The university contributes significantly to the local, regional, and national economy and development.

The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki operates 11 Faculties with 36 Schools and additionally 3 independent Schools. Nearly all disciplines are represented at Aristotle University. It offers a diverse variety of programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Aristotle University is the largest university in the Balkans, and among the largest universities in Europe with the most comprehensive range of faculties. It is highly focused on research and is a member of the European University Association. The campus is located in the center of the city of Thessaloniki, and covers an area of about 33.4 hectares. In terms of personnel, it includes 2,250 faculty members, 800 laboratory associates, and around 900 employees.
