Overview

Babeș-Bolyai University's roots date back to 1581 with the establishment of a Jesuit College. Over the centuries, it transformed and evolved, amalgamating with Greek and Romanian academic institutions. Post World War II, it was named after two prominent scientists - Victor Babeș, a biologist, and János Bolyai, a mathematician. UBB is a multicultural institution, providing courses in Romanian, Hungarian, German, and English. The faculties cover Arts, History and Philosophy, Law, Business, Political Science, Physics and many more, making it the most diverse Romanian institution. Despite socio-political factors, UBB retained its position as a leading Romanian educational institution throughout the 20th century, consistently ranking in the top three nationally and top 1.5% worldwide.
