Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) was founded in 1962, and originally named the Higher Preparatory School for Foreign Students. In 1996, BLCU was upgraded to a university under the China State Council. It is the only university in China that mainly focuses on teaching Chinese to foreign students and teaching foreign languages to Chinese students. The university offers various programs including undergraduate, Master's, and Ph.D. levels. BLCU is ranked high among language universities in China and the world.
