Clark University is a private research university in Worcester, Massachusetts. Founded in 1887 with a large endowment from its namesake Jonas Gilman Clark, a prominent businessman, Clark was one of the first modern research universities in the United States. Initially established to train the brightest minds and advance quantitative methods in the social sciences and humanities, Clark expanded to offer an extensive variety of undergraduate and master's degree programs in a range of academic disciplines including biology, business administration, computer science, education, and geography. The student-faculty ratio is 10:1 and about one third of the faculty are international, representing 50 countries. Clark University holds a top-tier ranking in the world based on QS rankings with strengths in geography and psychology.
