The Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) was founded in 1973 in Greece and it was named after the famous Greek philosopher and scholar, Democritus. The University is located in the city of Komotini, although some of its faculties are spread across other cities in Thrace. DUTH is known for its quality education and research in various fields. It comprises of 18 Departments, which are grouped into the Schools of Humanities, Engineering, Health Science and Social Sciences. It has more than 26,000 Greek and international students enrolled in its undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The university encourages student participation in research projects, fostering a healthy and productive academic environment.
