The European University Institute, founded in 1972, is an international postgraduate and post-doctoral teaching and research institute located in Fiesole, near Florence, in Italy. The Institute is known for its rigorous academic environment, excellent faculties & diverse student body.

Overview

The European University Institute, or simply EUI, is a unique international centre for doctorate and post-doctorate studies and research. Situated in the Tuscan hills overlooking Florence, the EUI provides an inspiring cultural and intellectual environment for scholars from everywhere. Currently hosting about 900 doctoral students, the EUI offers four-year doctoral programs in the social sciences (Law, Political and Social Sciences, Economics, and History and Civilization). The high faculty-to-student ratio guarantees close and ongoing academic guidance from professors, who are leaders in their fields. The EUI is an English-speaking community, offering various language courses to its students. The Library of the EUI is the leading and largest social sciences library in Europe. The EUI's unique setting allows researchers to engage in a tight-knit academic community, to shape their professional identities, and to develop their research and career autonomously. The EUI seeks to facilitate scholarly exchanges and collaboration within the international research community.
