Fatih University

Fatih University was a leading private university located in the Büyükçekmece district of Istanbul, Turkey. Founded in 1996, the university was an institution of higher learning involved in teaching, research, and outreach. However, it was closed by the government in 2016.

Overview

Fatih University was established in 1996 by the Turkish Association of Health and Medical Treatment. The university had 5 faculties, 2 institutes, 4 schools, and a school of foreign languages. It was a primary choice for students aiming for comprehensive higher education in Istanbul. The courses were taught in English, to prepare graduates for the global business arena. The main campus was located in the Büyükçekmece district of Istanbul, with additional campuses throughout the city. Besides being a cultural and historic hub, Istanbul also offered a vibrant student life. However, Fatih University was closed by the Turkish government in 2016 due to alleged links to the Gülen movement following the failed coup attempt.
