Federal University of Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri

The Federal University of Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri (UFVJM) is located in Diamantina. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses mostly focused on health and biological sciences. UFVJM carries the principle of regional development and community integration.

Overview

UFVJM was created in 2005 by the dismemberment of the Federal University of Minas Gerais. Despite being a relatively young institution, it has already established itself in the academic scenario of the state of Minas Gerais and of Brazil. It's most recognized by its mission of providing quality education and contributing to the human, scientific, and economic development of the region. It hosts more than 30 undergraduate programs and several master and doctorate programs, all of them accredited by the Brazilian Ministry of Education. The undergraduate courses highlight health and biological areas, such as Medicine, Nursing, and Biochemistry, and also Engineering and Humanities. Through connective research, teaching, and extension, UFVJM continues to grow and contribute to the development of the region and the country.
