Constructed in 1937, Fujian Medical University is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the large city of Fuzhou. Officially recognized by the Department of Education of the Fujian Province, Fujian Medical University (FMU) is a coeducational Chinese higher education institution. FMU offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees in several areas of study. Now, the university has been developed into a comprehensive teaching and research-based university with a strong emphasis on medical programs. It has two campuses covering over 876,710 square meters, and stores over 1.5 million books. Its 16 affiliated hospitals, where students can gain practical experience, provide high-quality medical service for about 20 million people in Fuzhou and neighboring areas. It boasts a teaching staff body of 861 offering a diverse range of teaching and research programs.
