Heilongjiang Bayi Agricultural University (HBAU) is a higher learning institution co-established by Heilongjiang province and the Chinese People's Liberation Army General Political Department, and is mainly supported by Heilongjiang province. It was founded in Nanchang, Jiangxi in 1949 and moved to Daqing, Heilongjiang in 1965.

Heilongjiang Bayi Agricultural University (HBAU) has a wide-range of offerings with more than 70 undergraduate programs across ten disciplines. The school has 21 colleges, 9 post-doctoral research mobile stations, 8 doctoral degree programs of first-class disciplines, 17 master's degree programs of first-class disciplines, and 13 professional degree categories. Besides, it has 7 provincial key first-class disciplines, 2 national characteristic specialities, 5 national-level comprehensive reform pilot specialities, and 8 national-level excellent engineer training programs. The school focuses on both educating students and serving local economic development. The school pays attention to international communication and has established cooperative relations with universities and research institutions in more than 10 countries including the United States, Britain, Russia, and Canada.
