The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC) is a public business school located in Kolkata, West Bengal. Established in 1961, IIMC is the first of the IIMs and set up in collaboration with the MIT Sloan School of management, the government of West Bengal and Ford Foundation. Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC) was established as the first national institute for Post-Graduate studies and Research in Management by the Government of India in November 1961 in collaboration with Alfred P. Sloan School of Management (MIT), the Government of West Bengal, and the Ford Foundation and Indian industry. It offers various postgraduate, executive, and doctoral level programs in management. With dynamically changing business environment, there has been a paradigm shift in the type of education imparted at IIMC. The emphasis is now on developing ethical leaders with entrepreneurial mindset who can adapt and excel in an uncertain business environment. Major areas of research include economics, behavioural sciences, finance and control, human resource management, management information systems, marketing, operations management, public policy, and strategic management.
