Overview

Established in 1965, the Institute of Disaster Prevention (IDP) is an academic body formed with the mission to perform comprehensive research and prevention of natural disasters. Providing extensive Disaster Management and Engineering degrees, it equips students with the necessary capabilities to devise and implement disaster prevention strategies. Over its long history, the Institute has made significant contributions to China's disaster management system and policy. The IDP hosts advanced facilities and conducts practical field studies, being at the forefront of disaster prevention countrywide. It is known for its robust training programs that encompass on-site learning, observation and simulations. More than 10,000 disaster management professionals have graduated from the institute. Furthermore, it cooperates with numerous universities and research institutes at home and abroad to promote scientific research and personnel training in the field of disaster prevention.
