Kingston University, commonly known as KU, is a public research university in Kingston upon Thames, England. Originating from the merger of several institutions, the university became Kingston Polytechnic in 1970, and was then granted university status under the Further and Higher Education Act 1992. Today, the university specializes in the arts, design, fashion, science, engineering, and business. It includes faculties of Health, Social Care and Education, Business and Social Sciences, Kingston School of Art, and Science, Engineering and Computing, all of which offer a wide selection of undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses. KU's reputation for excellent teaching and innovative research attracts nearly 18,000 students from over 150 countries.
