The Liaoning Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) is a comprehensive university that's government-funded, specializing mainly in engineering but also offering programs in science, management, humanities, and law. The school was originally founded as Benxi Steel College in 1948 and changed to its present name in 2004. The campus covers an area of around 1,992,000 square meters and it accommodated over 1400 faculty staff and 15,000 undergraduate students. It is organized into sixteen departments/schools. It cultivates good cooperation with educational institutions and enterprises from around 30 countries such as the USA, Germany, Russia, Australia, England, Korea, etc. The major disciplines are Metallurgical Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, and Control Science & Engineering.
