Linnaeus University is a modern, international university located in Småland, Sweden. Named after Carl Linnaeus, the world-renowned Swedish scientist who is considered the father of modern ecology, the university bears a heritage of strong environmental studies, natural science, and a focus on innovation.

Overview

Linnaeus University was established in 2010 through a merger of two universities in Kalmar and Växjö. It is named after Carl Linnaeus, a notable Swedish botanist, physician, and zoologist famous for formalizing binomial nomenclature. The university is known for its strong research programs especially in Environmental Technology, Wood and Building Technology, Biomedical Sciences, and Social Sciences. In addition to its solid academic foundation, Linnaeus University is also recognized for offering a vibrant student life with various activities and student organizations. LNU is divided into two campuses located in Växjö and Kalmar and supports around 32,000 students with 2,000 international students pursuing degrees or exchanging annually.
