Established in 1922 as a humble technical school, Makerere University is one of the oldest institutions of higher learning in Uganda. It is located in the heart of Kampala, the country'scapital. The university offers numerous undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs in fields such as health sciences, humanities, business, science and technology, among others. With an estimated student population of around 40,000, it is renowned for its excellent academic programs, innovative research, and contribution to community improvement. Moreover, Makerere has libraries, recreational facilities, halls of residence, and a modern health unit. Some of its notable alumni include several heads of states in Africa, academics, public figures, and private sector leaders.
