Mendel University in Brno was established in 1919 and named after the founder of genetics, Gregor Johann Mendel. As a public university, MENDELU provides high-quality education in the area of economics, forestry, horticulture, and other areas. The university aims to foster research, innovation, and creativity. It was ranked as the 6th best Czech university and the world 77th best university in the field of Agriculture & Forestry according to the QS World University Rankings 2020. The university consists of five faculties, and one institute - the Institute of Lifelong Learning. For students' practical training, the Training Forest Enterprise Masaryk's Forest Křtiny, the Botanic Gardens and the Czech Gene Bank are used. The university also offers study abroad programs and student exchange programs under Erasmus+.
