The Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, or Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) as known in Spanish, is a private, nonprofit and independent multi-campus university located primarily in Monterrey, Mexico. Founded in 1943 by leading regional industrialists, ITESM has since grown to include 31 campuses in 25 cities throughout the country, becoming one of the most recognized in Latin America. ITESM was the first university in Latin America to connect to the internet, and it has a comprehensive study system offering high school, undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and lifelong learning programs. Besides, it is known for its strong reputation amongst employers, and its graduates are often recruited by international companies. The university also has one of the highest rates of student exchange in the world, with partnerships with over 470 universities in 78 countries.
