Overview

National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) was established in Taiwan in 1958 on the foundation of the former National Hsinchu University of Education, while its roots can be traced back to the Nanyang Public School founded in Shanghai in 1896. The University is renowned for its pioneering research and education in various disciplines including sciences, engineering, management, and others. The NCTU has 9 colleges, embracing a comprehensive range of subjects, and employs about 500 full-time faculty members, six of whom are Academicians of the Academia Sinica. NCTU has always been known for striving for excellence, fostering innovation and pursuing knowledge. Its leading-edge research in numerous fields has had a vital impact on Taiwan's economy, especially in information technology and semiconductors sectors. NCTU has often been described as the 'MIT of Taiwan.'
