Overview
The Norwegian Police University College is the academic and professional backbone of the Norwegian police force. Established in 1992, PHS has since been delivering education, conducting research and development work to improve the force's theoretical know-how and practical skills. PHS offers a variety of academic programs, including a three-year bachelor's degree in Police Studies, a two-year master's degree and a three-year PhD program, both in Police Science. In addition to these, the college also offers a wide range of further education and training for operational personnel and managers at all levels of the police service. The educational approach is research-based and aimed at providing the students with the knowledge and practical skills they need for their future roles within the police force. The college has around 700 full-time students at any given time, and its three campuses are located in Oslo, Stavern, and Kongsvinger. PHS also plays a key role in international research and development cooperation in its field.
