The Open University of Cyprus (OUC), the second state University of Cyprus and the country’s only University devoted to distance education, strives to fill an important gap and support Cypriot society in the new technological era by offering high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate programs. OUC was established in 2002 and welcomed its first students in 2006. The University uses modern educational technology to provide greater access to higher education across Cyprus and beyond. As a pioneering institution, OUC aims to introduce new programs and methods in the Cypriot higher education system, offering accredited programs that meet the requirements of contemporary scientific, technological and economic sectors. The mission of the OUC is the production, communication and application of knowledge as well as promotion of scientific research through academic freedom and rigour.
