Pukyong National University's legacy traces back to 1924 with the establishment of the Dong-A College. It went through several transformations before it became a national university recognised by the Ministry of Education in 1996. Today, PKNU houses 8 faculties with 58 departments, and 6 graduate schools. The university is recognised for its strong curriculum in Fisheries and Ocean Studies. Adjusting to the rapidly changing modern society, the University provides specialized education and research in advanced fields of science and technology, serving as a pillar in the nation's development of ocean science industry and a site for future industries.
