Shantou University (STU), established in 1981, is a key comprehensive university in Guangdong Province, China. It was founded with the approval of the State Council, aiming to cultivate students with global perspective, innovative mind, entrepreneurial spirit and a deep understanding of both Chinese and Western cultures. STU, jointly founded by the Ministry of Education, People’s Government of Guangdong Province and the Li Ka Shing Foundation, has been striving for an innovative path of higher education reform in China, and has gained the reputation as ‘an experimental field of China’s higher education innovation'. Despite its relatively short history, it has made remarkable achievements in student training, scientific research, community service, and international exchange.
