The State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn, known as SUNY Downstate, is a leading urban medical center that serves a diverse and changing population. SUNY Downstate ranks eighth nationally for providing doctors to the U.S., and it is the only academic medical center in Brooklyn. It includes a College of Medicine, College of Nursing, School of Health Professions, a modern Advanced Biotechnology Park, and a 376-bed University Hospital. Notable among these are its highly competitive MD program, and a wide range of residency programs in medical and surgical specialties and subspecialties.
