Sultan Qaboos University, established in 1986, is Oman's first national university. It was named in honor of Oman's present Sultan, Qaboos bin Said al-Said. It is located in Al Khoudh in the Muscat Governorate.

Located in Al Khoud, Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) is the first national university in the Sultanate of Oman and was established in 1986. It was named after the Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said, the reigning Sultan of Oman. The university, built on Islamic architecture, is equipped with modern facilities and has around 20,000 students, the majority of whom are women. SQU offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in various fields - including Arts, Education, Science, Medicine, Engineering, Agriculture, Nursing, and more. It is committed to producing graduates of high caliber with the help of its experienced faculty members. SQU continuously strives towards being one of the top institutions worldwide.
