Overview

Taiyuan University is one of the key universities in the People's Republic of China under the direct jurisdiction of Shanxi Province. It was established in 1902 as Shanxi Daxuetang, one of the earliest universities established in China after the Education Reform Movement. The university is a provincial research university with a strong commitment to undergraduate and post-graduate education. Despite being just over a century old, it has already grown into a comprehensive university, possessing a strong faculty and boasting of a wide variety of disciplines, including Natural Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, Social Sciences, and others.
