The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture (UTIA), established in 1968, is based in Knoxville, Tennessee, and operates statewide. UTIA is composed of four units: the College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources; the College of Veterinary Medicine; the Tennessee Agricultural Experiment Station; and the University of Tennessee Extension. The Institute focuses on various areas like agribusiness economics, animal science, entomology, food science, etc. The mission of UTIA is to enrich through excellence the lives of the people of Tennessee and beyond, supporting sustainable agricultural systems, natural resources, and rural economies.
