Overview

Tianjin University, formerly known as Peiyang University, was the first modern university in China. It was established in 1895 under the decree of Emperor Guangxu during the late Qing Dynasty. In the long history of the university, it has established itself as a pioneer and leader in Chinese higher education. It is a member of both the 'Double First Class' and '985 Project' initiatives, which aim to develop world-class universities. TJU offers a comprehensive range of courses and is particularly renowned for its engineering and technical sciences. In addition, it is also a leading research institution, with achievements recognized both domestically and internationally. Turning to the rankings, Tianjin University has always been among the top institutions in China and across the world.
