Founded in 1881 as a private institution, Tokyo University of Science(TUS) is noted for having produced numerous leading figures in the fields of industry and science. The university boasts the largest student population of any private science and technology-focused university in Japan, and one of the most comprehensive arrays of undergraduate and graduate programs. TUS has four campuses in the Greater Tokyo Area, including its primary campus which is located in Kagurazaka. The university's mission is to root itself in practical scholarship and cultivate individuals who are capable of meeting the challenges of a rapidly changing scientific world by creatively responding to societal needs and conducting innovative research.
