Universidade do Algarve, also known as UAlg, is a Portuguese public university located in Faro, in the Algarve region of southern Portugal. It was established in 1979 with an aim to promote higher education and research in the region. UAlg is divided into various schools and institutes, offering several courses in fields ranging from Health, Engineering, Management to Arts. It is recognized globally for its research work especially in the areas of Marine Sciences, Biotechnology and Medicine. Besides its excellent academic and research environment, the university also boasts the unique cultural heritage and beautiful natural landscape of its location. Known to continuously enhance its international influence, UAlg has over 1,000 foreign students from over 60 countries, thanks to its collaborations with several universities around the globe.
