Established in 1962, the Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), also known as the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul, is a public higher education institution located in Campo Grande, the capital city of the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul. It is one of the largest and most diverse universities in Brazil, with a strong focus on research, science, technology, and the arts.

UFMS is a University that aims to promote the ethical, critical and reflective formation of citizens committed to the development of society. It offers a range of courses in areas such as Biological, Health, Exact, Human, Social Applied Activities and Linguistic and arts. It also offers postgraduate programs, both stricto sensu (Masters and Doctoral degrees) and lato sensu (specialization). The stricto sensu postgraduate programs are evaluated by CAPES - Coordination of Improvement of Higher Education Personnel, linked to the Ministry of Education, which assigns the courses a grade ranging from 1 to 7. It carries out research in various areas of knowledge and prepares professionals capable of responding to different demands of the productive sector, in addition to providing services in the areas of health, legal and environmental situations.
