University of Agder

The University of Agder (UiA) is an institution based in Kristiansand, Norway. It was established in 2007 and has since grown to cater to a student population of around 13,000. UiA offers a variety of programs spanning the Arts, Humanities, Sciences, and Social Sciences. It is recognized for its commitment to research, student engagement, and innovation.

Overview

The University of Agder (UiA) is a young, modern university situated in the picturesque southern region of Norway. Despite only being officially established as a university in 2007, its academic roots date back to the foundation of Kristiansand Teacher Training College in 1839. It has since expanded and evolved, now comprising two main campuses, seven faculties, and a student body of approximately 13,000. A broad range of academic programs are on offer at UiA, across both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, in fields such as business, humanities, arts, social sciences, health and sports sciences, and engineering and science. The university enjoys a close relationship with business, industry, and the public sector in its region, which allows for a practical, hands-on approach to many of its courses. UiA places a special emphasis on research and development activities, and is known for several internationally recognized research groups and a growing number of PhD programs.
