The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is a prominent institution dedicated to health sciences. It is the only UC campus in the 10-campus system dedicated exclusively to the health sciences.

UCSF is a leading university dedicated to promoting health worldwide through advanced biomedical research, graduate-level education in the life sciences and health professions, and excellence in patient care. It includes top-ranked graduate schools of dentistry, medicine, nursing and pharmacy; a graduate division with nationally renowned programs in basic, biomedical, translational and population sciences; and a preeminent biomedical research enterprise. It also includes UCSF Health, which comprises two top-ranked hospitals, UCSF Medical Center and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals.

UCSF School of Medicine Dean's Prize:
This award is given to students who demonstrate a high level of initiative and independence in performing and reporting their research. It promotes, recognizes and rewards outstanding scholarly research in the basic or clinical sciences by medical students.
Chancellor's Award for Public Service:
This award recognizes individual students, faculty, and staff, and one UCSF-based team, who have demonstrated outstanding public service beyond the scope of their job, area of research, or training.
Thomas N. Burbridge Public Service Award:
The award recognizes and promotes the significant contributions that members of the University community have made to society through public service.
UCSF Medal:
The UCSF Medal, previously known as the UCSF 150th Anniversary Alumni Excellence Award, is the University's most prestigious award. It is given to individuals who have made notable contributions to health science and who have demonstrated outstanding service to UCSF.
The Chancellors Diversity Award:
The Award recognizes exceptional accomplishments in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Awards are given in the four categories: Disability Service, LGBT Leadership, Advancement of Women, and Martin Luther King Jr. Leadership.
