The University of Cantabria (UC) is a public institution for higher education and research, located in Santander, the capital city of Cantabria. Successfully pursuing a balance between teaching and research, UC has earned recognition for its achievements in technology, science, humanities and social sciences.

Overview

Founded in 1972, the University of Cantabria is based on the merging of two older technical schools: the Higher Polytechnic School of Santander and the University College of Studies. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate educational programs which are distinguished for their high academic standards, multidisciplinary approach, and the strong emphasis on research activities. UC has a strong commitment to internationalization, with more than 20% of its students being international. One of its main focal points is the advancement of research in various fields such as oceanography, finance, and medicine, where research groups collaborate with other universities and research institutions at national and international level.
