Founded by such pioneers as the Prime Ministers William Gladstone and the Earl of Derby, and a group of Anglican clergymen, the University of Chester has been changing lives since 1839. The institution was first established for the training of teachers. Among its many facilities, the University has world-class laboratories, a simulated trading floor, an aquatic research facility and a Crime Scene House. It also carries out significant research in areas like nutrition and exercise science, cardiovascular disease and social issues.
