The University of Colombo (UoC) is a public research university located in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It is the oldest institution of modern higher education in Sri Lanka, with a strong tradition of academic excellence.

Specializing primarily in the fields of humanities, sciences, commerce, and law, the University of Colombo remains one of the foremost establishments for higher learning and research in Sri Lanka. With a rich history dating back to more than 125 years, UoC offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral level study programs. It is also a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities. The campus is spread out in various locations around Colombo, providing a diverse range of facilities and resources, which include several libraries, student hostels, health services, career guidance unit and sports and recreation services. The University's mission is to nurture intellectual and creative abilities, to foster democratic values and to ensure exposure to a wide range of knowledge and competencies.
