The center encompasses the UConn John Dempsey Hospital, UConn Schools of Medicine & Nursing, and UConn Medical Group. Overview

Founded in 1961, The University of Connecticut Health Center is a combination of the UConn School of Medicine, UConn School of Dental Medicine, The Graduate School, and John Dempsey Hospital. Classes at the medical school started in 1968 and four years later, the first class of doctors graduated. In 1975, New England’s first and Connecticut’s only public academic health center, UConn Health, was opened. UConn Health serves as a vibrant health care, educational, and research enterprise. It is Connecticut's designated Public Academic Health Center that delivers comprehensive, world-class health care services. It treats thousands of patients annually and helps innovate medical science with extensive research facilities that allow students and faculty members to make valuable contributions to medical knowledge every year.
