The University of Eastern Finland (UEF) is a multidisciplinary university located in Joensuu and Kuopio. With approximately 15,000 students and 2,800 members of staff, UEF is one of the largest universities in Finland. The university offers teaching in more than 100 major subjects.
Overview
The University of Eastern Finland was founded in 2010 when the University of Joensuu and the University of Kuopio were merged. The university is now comprised of four faculties: the Philosophical Faculty, the Faculty of Science and Forestry, the Faculty of Health Sciences, and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies. The research activities are profiled through five interdisciplinary research areas: forests and the environment, health and well-being, new technologies and materials, border studies and Russia, and education. The university offers a wide range of Bachelor’s, Master’s, and doctoral degree programs in these fields.
