Overview

The University of Haifa was established in 1963 under the joint auspices of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Haifa Municipality. Now an independent academic institution fully accredited by the Council of Higher Education in Israel, it has evolved into one of Israel's leading research universities, with seven faculties, sixty research centers, and close relations with local and international academic institutes. The University has been offering a wide range of academic degrees and programs in humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, health sciences, and education. Among these are unique programs that are first and only ones in Israel and even in the world. The University encourages academic excellence and offers numerous merit scholarships and awards.
