The University of Lagos, popularly known as UNILAG, is a public research university located in Lagos, Nigeria. Established in 1962, the university boasts a student population of over 35,000. UNILAG, as the university is fondly called, offers a variety of programs and courses in various disciplines.

Overview

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) was established in 1962 and since then has grown to become one of the top higher institutions in Nigeria and Africa. Its main campus is located in Akoka, Yaba, while the Medical School campus is situated in Idi-Araba, all in Lagos, Nigeria’s most populous city. UNILAG offers degree programs in a range of disciplines, across undergraduate, postgraduate and online courses. The atmosphere on campus is vibrant and intellectually stimulating, with a strong emphasis on research and community service. It is also home to numerous research centres and institutes that are advancing knowledge in various fields. Its alumni are, for the most part, nationally and internationally recognized individuals who have significantly contributed to the development of Nigeria and the international community. The university is committed to producing graduates who will be role models in their chosen professions, in line with its motto, 'In Deed and Truth.'
