The University of Lille is a French public university located in Lille, France. It is one of the largest French universities, based on the number of students which is around 67,000. The university is renowned for its academic excellence, diverse student body and world-class faculty.
Overview
The University of Lille, situated in the city of the same name, was originally founded in 1559 as Douai University. In 2018, it was merged with Lille 1 University of Science and Technology, Lille 2 University of Health and Law, and Lille 3 Charles de Gaulle University of Humanities, Social Sciences, Literature and Arts to form the new University of Lille. It is one of the largest universities in France both in terms of student numbers and physical size, offering a wide range of academic and professional courses to its diverse student body. In addition to its main campus in Lille, the university has several other sites across the Hauts-de-France region. The institution is particularly well-regarded for its research credentials, especially in the fields of health, humanities, science and technology, and law, economics and management. It's a member of the European University Association and the French Community of Universities and Institutions (ComUE Lille Nord de France).
