The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) is the largest public university of health sciences in the nation. It provides health care training in biomedical research, health care delivery and medical technology. The university is dedicated to pursuing excellence in the education of health professionals and scientists, conducting research, delivering health care, and serving the community.

Overview

Located in Newark, New Jersey, the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) was established in 1970. The college consists of eight schools and one dental school, offering a wide range of academic programs. At UMDNJ, you can study everything from dental hygiene to medical imaging sciences. The University offers programs leading to degrees in allopathic and osteopathic medicine, dentistry, biomedical sciences, nursing, health-related technology, medical imaging, and other health care fields. UMDNJ is home to University Hospital, a Level I Trauma Center, and the nation's busiest heliport. In 2013, UMDNJ was dissolved, and many of its schools were merged into Rutgers University to form Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences.
