The University of New Brunswick (UNB) is a public university with campuses in Fredericton and Saint John, New Brunswick. Established in 1785, UNB offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in more than 60 disciplines and continuing education in a variety of fields.
Overview
The University of New Brunswick is one of the oldest public universities in North America and the oldest English-language university in Canada. UNB was founded by a group of seven Loyalists who left the United States after the American Revolution. UNB's Fredricton campus, located in New Brunswick's capital, was the first institution in North America to introduce engineering in the curriculum. The Saint John campus, located in New Brunswick's largest city, offers a wide range of programs and degrees across disciplines. The university boosts a strong research culture and holds Canada's only university-based research reactor. The various institutes and centres of advanced study collaborate on interdisciplinary research projects and further enhance UNB's illustrious history and reputation in the academic community.
