The University of Physical Education (UPE) located in Hungary, is an institute with a history of around a century. It is the largest center in Hungary for training teachers of physical education, coaches, recreation specialists, and specialists of adaptive physical education.
Overview
The University of Physical Education is a renowned Hungarian institute of higher educational sports since the 19th century and it also had been the Europe’s first independent higher educational institution for athletes and physical education instructors. It was reestablished in 2014, previously called 'Semmelweis University Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Sciences'. The reformation of the university meant that a specialized independent institution training high-level sports specialists has again been created in Hungary. The mission of UPE exists in cultivating in the new generation, the culture of sports and healthy lifestyle, the knowledge related to physical activities, sports and the maintenance of health, and passing on accumulated knowledge, from a modern, effectively functioning institution having human resources of high standard. Through its international relations, it contributes to global academic results in the field of sports, exercise and health.
