Established in 1669, the University of Zagreb is the oldest Croatian university and also the oldest university in South East Europe. It is comprised of 29 faculties, 3 art academies, and 1 university department. The University enrols close to 8 percent of the total Croatian student population and also has a large international student body. It offers bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programs in fields such as Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Medical Sciences, Engineering, and Interdisciplinary areas of study. Its mission is to 'seek and spread the truth, develop scientific and artistic creativity, provide the young with an education which will enable them to think critically, accept social responsibility and act entrepreneurially.'
