The University of Zimbabwe (UZ) is the oldest and topmost university in Zimbabwe. It is a public university that comprises of ten faculties providing undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs in arts, commerce, science and technology.

Overview

The University of Zimbabwe (UZ) was established in 1952 as University College of Rhodesia and Nyasaland, in Harare, Zimbabwe. Over the years, it evolved and grew into a comprehensive institution that offers a wide range of undergraduate, and postgraduate degree programs across multiple disciplines. UZ has gained prominence for its contributions towards the provision of tertiary education, research output, and service. The faculties include Arts, Agriculture, Education, Engineering, Medicine, Law, Science, Social Studies, Veterinary Science, and Commerce. Each faculty has several departments. Spanning over a historical period of more than six decades, UZ has been committed to intellectual growth, having produced notable alumni, including politicians, academicians, doctors, engineers and businessmen who have made significant contributions in different sectors.
