Washington and Lee University is a private liberal arts university in Lexington, Virginia. It dates back to 1749 and was renamed after George Washington and Robert E. Lee. The University places high emphasis on the development of the whole person, fostering a balance of leadership, personal integrity, and citizenship. W&L is divided into two undergraduate divisions, the College and the Williams School of Commerce, Economics, and Politics, and a graduate School of Law. Graduates are prepared for lifelong learning, personal achievement, responsible leadership, service to others, and engaged citizenship in a global and diverse society.
